Five Streams of the Emerging Church

Just read this article from Scot McKnight's
It was a good article and fairly decent description of the postmodern, emergent, missional movement. If you have read very much in that area or have been involved in the conversation it is pretty much review. It was interesting to read the multi-colored reviews on the article. Seems like 30% of the people either admittedly did not understand it (some probably thought they did and got angry about what they thought it meant but really didn't understand), and the other 70% liked it or found it informative in some fashion. One criticism that i did think was somewhat appropriate though was the comment on the fact that he intentionally focuses on the American church. Check it out and let me know what you think.

All in all its a good article. I didnt know Tim was that well known. But I disagree with his emphasis that Rauschenbusch led to serious problems: "Walter Rauschenbusch, the architect of the social gospel. Without trying to deny the spiritual gospel, he led his followers into the social gospel. The results were devastating for mainline Christianity's ability to summon sinners to personal conversion." He doesnt back up this claim (which may be one of the reasons I hate bloggers). I also agree his view is extremely western, which is very funny, since Christianity is actually diminishing in the west and perhaps we should get the opinions of those who are actually growing. And yes, quantity over quality.
