Psalm 20
May he give you the desire of your heart
and make all your plans succeed.
May we shout for joy over your victory
and lift up our banners in the name of our God.
May the Lord grant all your requests.
Now this I know:
The Lord gives victory to his anointed.
Some trust in chariots and some in horses,
but we trust in the name of the Lord our God.
Wait a second is this some kinda joke? Gods going to give me ALL the desires of my heart? Did God just turn into a genie in a bottle or something? Before you start wishing on stars think about the text a little closer. God loves us, He created us, he wants nothing but the best for us. So yes God wants to give us the desires of our heart. But that doesnt mean God will give us all our desires.
This is a promise to someone who is walking with God and has a relationship with God. A person who is in that kind of relationship is already seeking first the kingdom of God. I think a large part of it comes down to the last verse.
Where do you put your trust???
